History

Fourth Creek is located on the Dowell-Springs Property and snakes through the original Lones-Dowell property. The name Fourth Creek comes from it being the fourth creek away from downtown Knoxville. Creeks are small to medium-sized natural streams and are sometimes navigable by motor craft.

Creeks are important as conduits in the water cycle, instruments in groundwater recharge, and corridors for fish and wildlife migration. Creeks play an important corridor role in connecting fragmented habitats and thus in conserving biodiversity.
